NASA Robotics Alliance Project Web Course
In August and September of 2006, the NASA Robotics Alliance sponsored a begining robotics course called Robotics with the XBC Controller. This course has now ended, but all of the material from the course is available online at the NASA Robotics Alliance site.
These materials will introduce students of all ages to autonomous robotics by exploring topics such as:
- mechanical design
- software
- digital and analog sensors
- robotic vision
No prior robotic or computing experience is required. However, a solid understanding of basic algebra and geometry would be helpful.
Click here for information on purchasing the XBC Robot Starter Kit v3, which includes all of the materials needed for the course (you will be following the instructions for Assembly 3 to work with these materials).
Before you begin, you may want to take a look at the technical help page for the course, and these hints for web course participants from the BotNews Blog. Most of them are still relevant for people who are using the archived course materials. You can also get robot assembly instructions for the XBC Robot Starter Kit at the KIPR Robot Kit Instructions Page.
