Botball Kit Questions

  1. We participated last year. Can we use the kit from last year’s tournament?
  2. We lost a piece of our kit. Can we get replacement parts?
  3. How many robots can my team build with one Botball kit?

Q: We participated last year. Can we use the kit from last year’s tournament?

A: One goal of the Botball Educational Robotics Program is to provide robotics equipment to schools/teams that can be reused and reprogrammed year after year. Another goal is to provide the most current, up-to-date technology in each year’s robot kit. To that end, our kit is different every year and teams are provided with the current year’s kit at the Educator’s Workshop. This insures that every Botball team will be using identical kit materials and will have the most current technology possible to work with.

Q: We lost a piece of our kit. Can we get replacement parts?

A: Botball kit parts other then Lego are sold separately. Please visit our KIPR Botball Store to place an order.

KISS Institute is not a Lego retailer. Should your team need to replace a Lego part included in the approved kit, you are encouraged to purchase that item directly from Lego.

Should your team use any item not included in the approved kit during the Botball tournament, your team’s robot will be disqualified. A complete list of approved parts is distributed at the Educator’s Workshop.

Q: How many robots can my team build with one Botball kit?

A: Each Botball kit contains two microprocessors and an iRobot Create as well as enough sensors, motors, and Lego to build two autonomous robots. Because the kits are reusable, the building possibilities are endless!
